In key Gulf South Conference matches against rival North Alabama on Thursday, the UAH tennis teams came up short. Both teams suffered heartbreaking 5-4 losses at the Charger Tennis Center. The losses put both teams in 0-3 holes in the GSC. The men fell to 6-6 overall, while the Lady Chargers went to 6-7.

 

The loss was particularly stinging to the Lady Chargers in that the UNA women came into the match a player short. That gave UAH a 2-0 lead before the first serve. However, UNA evened the score by taking both remaining doubles matches and then edging the Lady Chargers 3-2 in singles. 

 

In the men's match, the Chargers took two of the three doubles contests and took a 2-1 lead into the singles. The Lions tied the match at 2-all when an injured Andre Ipince was forced to retire. Then, UNA won three of the final five matches to claim the victory.

 

Both teams will have a break before hosting West Alabama on April 8th.
