Florence - The UAH volleyball team stayed on the floor for much of the day against 2nd-ranked Tampa. However, the injury-riddled Lady Chargers couldn't keep up with the Spartans, falling 25-12, 25-19, 25-9 on the final day of the UNA South Region Invitational at Flowers Hall. UAH fell to 1-24 with the loss, while Tampa improved to 18-2.
The Spartans put the squeeze on the Lady Chargers, allowing only 14 kills. UAH also committed 18 errors, resulting in a hitting percentage of -.050. Freshman Jessica Ruple (Tyrone, Ga.) had four kills and eight digs to lead the Lady Chargers. Senior Jessica Huckabee (Hoover) tallied 10 assists and nine digs.
The Lady Chargers return home to host West Georgia in a Gulf South Conference match on Tuesday night.
