Finn Announces 2013 Schedule For UAH Tennis

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Head Coach Daniel Finn and the University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis program announced the 2013 schedule for both the men's and women's teams on Wednesday. The challenging slate features a combined 13 teams that are currently ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

“Playing quality teams week in and week out is a blessing,” Finn said. “Having the ability to play a tough schedule is going to greatly benefit these young men and women as they begin to learn how to elevate their level of play.”

On the men's side, the Chargers will face nine opponents currently ranked in the top 50 including an arduous stretch to close out the regular season when the Blue and White will face No. 38 Delta State, No. 22 Florida Southern, No. 2 West Florida, and No. 12 Saint Leo.

Only the Delta State contest will be on UAH's home court.

That match on March 28 will round out a home slate that begins with Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers on Feb. 10. After Carson Newman visits on Feb. 22, the Chargers will not return home again until March 10 when they host Division I Western Kentucky, starting a string of five home contests in a row for UAH.

The ladies will close out with a similarly tough group of opponents as Florida Southern, West Florida, and Saint Leo are all ranked (17th, ninth, and 12th, respectively).

Playing at home on each date that the men are at home, the Lady Chargers will also play West Georgia on Feb. 25 and Montevallo on April 10.

“For this team to reach the lofty goals that we have set for them, they need a schedule like this,” said Finn. “We have put in a lot of work this fall, and I can't wait for the players to see everything pay off.”

Both teams will begin the 2013 campaign on Feb. 2 at Emmanuel College in Emmanuel, Ga.
