2012-13 UAH HOCKEY SCHEDULE
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey program and Head Coach Chris Luongo announced the team's 2012-13 slate on Friday.
“Once again, the 2012-13 schedule has us playing members from every Division I league in the country plus fellow independent Penn State,” Luongo stated. “Our schedule will be a great challenge for our student-athletes as we continue building the foundation of UAH hockey.”
The year begins with back-to-back weekends at the Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center as the Chargers will open the campaign with a two-game series against Alabama on Oct. 6 and 7 before turning around to host Minnesota State on Oct. 12 and 13.
After the two home weekends, the Blue and White will travel to St. Cloud State on Oct. 19 and 20 with a trip to the Northeast to battle Bentley on Oct. 26 and American International on Oct. 27.
When the calendar flips to November, the Chargers will have a showdown with St. Lawrence on Nov. 2 and 3 in Canton, N.Y., and the squad will venture to Boston to skate against Northeastern on Nov. 10 and 11. The string of road dates continues with a trip to Lake Superior State on Nov. 16 and 17 and wraps up at Nebraska Omaha on Nov. 23 and 24.
UAH will then host the United States Under-18 team on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the VBC, and Finlandia will venture to the Rocket City the next weekend on Dec. 7 and 8.
Wrapping up the pre-Christmas slate, the Chargers will travel to Wisconsin for a pair on Dec. 13 and 14.
An immediate test after the holidays, Boston College – champions of the UAH-hosted Frozen Four a season ago – awaits the team on Dec. 28 at the Mariucci Classic at Minnesota, and the squad will face Air Force on Dec. 29 at the event.
“This season will be another opportunity to measure the growth of our student-athletes as hockey players and as young men,” Luongo continued. “Life is about experiencing challenges, meeting them head on, and growing as a result of those challenges. That is success. We will be successful this season.”
After the contests in the State of Hockey, the team will return to the Hockey Capital of the South to host Adrian in the home finale on Jan. 4 and 5.
Concluding the season, the Chargers will travel to Penn State on Feb. 8 and 9 before closing out the year at Minnesota Duluth on March 1 and 2.
