Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH volleyball team earned a split on day two of their Country Inn & Suites Tournament, defeating Albany State 3-1 before falling to Florida Tech 3-2 in five sets.

The Lady Chargers (4-3) got by SIAC-member Albany State in their first game of the day, but came up just short against Florida Tech from the Sunshine State Conference in a five-set thriller.

Jumping out a two-set lead in their early game, UAH fell in the third set but bounced back in the fourth to earn their fourth victory of the season.

In the opening set, UAH would bolt out to a 9-2 lead and would never look back. Sparking that rally was Kendall Knisley, who earned three kills in that time, while Stacey Sargent smashed two. UAH also benefitted from a few Albany State errors as well.

The Golden Rams would get within three points (10-7) before UAH pulled away with the eventual 25-15 win.

The second set was back and forth throughout, until Kelsey Williams helped spark a run starting at 19-17. From there UAH would take six of the next seven points to go up two games to none with a 25-18 win the second set.

After falling 25-22 in the third set, the Lady Chargers responded with a 25-19 win in the fourth.

Williams tallied 18 kills and a pair of blocks, while Angela Thurmond finished with 17 kills.

The Lady Chargers held the advantage over the visiting Panthers (5-1) at two sets to one, but Florida Tech answered taking the final two sets from the hosts.

All five sets were evenly matched and the end result could have gone to either team, but the Panthers finished just enough attacks to seal the win.
