Men's Tennis Shuts Out Reinhard 9-0

WALESKA, Ga. – Winning for the fifth time in its last six matches, the University of Alabama in Huntsville men's tennis team travelled to Reinhardt on Friday and picked up its third 9-0 victory of the season. The triumph moves the Chargers to 5-4 on the season – a win total that represents a quick turnaround as it matches that of last season.

“Our guys will get some well-deserved time off before our next match,” Head Coach Daniel Finn said following the match. “Hopefully we can heal up as we have a tough schedule ahead.”

The doubles points were won in order as the No. 1 pairing of Jose Soto and Nestor Perez blanked the opposition with an 8-0 victory. Christopher Kano and Raphael Oliveira then teamed up at the second position to win 8-4, and Fredrik Graaner and Guillermo Reyes picked up an 8-6 victory at No. 3 to give the Chargers a large 3-0 lead.

Putting the visitors on the edge of capturing the match, Soto dispatched of his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles, and Perez then clinched the match with an identical 6-0, 6,-0 win at the second position.

At the No. 4, Kano was leading 6-2, 1-0 when his opponent retired, while Oliveira was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at the fifth spot. In the No. 6 match, Reyes cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Playing his third consecutive match to go to the distance, Graaner showed great poise to win the No. 3 point by scores of 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 though the match was already decided.
