HUNTSVILLE | The final home game of the season and final game of the regular season for the 30th-ranked UAH baseball team against West Alabama was canceled on Sunday afternoon after heavy rains and severe weather came into the Huntsville area.
The game entered a delay at 1:47 p.m. and was unable to resume. UAH was actually up in the game by a score of 4-1 in the top of third inning, but because at least 4.5 innings were not completed the game goes down as unofficial and the results do not count.
Nine Charger seniors were honored before the game during 2014 Senior Day ceremonies.
UAH will now prepare for the GSC Tournament, which is set to begin this Friday. UAH will be the No. 2 seed (owning the tie-breaker over West Florida) and will play No. 7 seed North Alabama at 1 p.m. at Young Memorial Field on the campus of UAB.
The Chargers conclude the regular season with a record of 34-13 and 22-7 in the GSC. UAH currently sits at No. 6 in the most recent NCAA South Region Poll and picked up another two wins this weekend to help its cause.
