American Sports Network to Televise UAH Jan. 8 Game

EDINA, Minn. | The Western Collegiate Hockey Association and Commissioner Bill Robertson announced an agreement to broadcast two WCHA games on American Sports Network, which includes the UAH hockey home game against Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 8 at the Von Braun Center.

"We greatly appreciate the American Sports Network for televising our January 8th home game versus our great friends from Alaska." said UAH Director of Athletics Dr. E. J. Brophy. "Nothing can promote a program like television, and we look forward to showcasing two solid programs from the WCHA at the turn of the year."

Along with the Chargers and Nanooks matchup on Jan.8, the league has also agreed to broadcast Lake Superior State at Michigan Tech as part of Winter Carnival in Houghton, Mich. on Friday, Feb. 5 (7:07 p.m. CT / 8:07 p.m. ET). Both games, along with the entire ASN college hockey package, will be shown on select affiliates of the Sinclair Networks Group and on several Regional Sports Networks around the country.

"Our agreement with American Sports Network represents an important step for the WCHA and is an exciting development for our fans, who now have more opportunities and greater access to watch tremendous college hockey," said WCHA Commissioner Bill Robertson. "We applaud ASN's commitment to growing television exposure for our sport and are thrilled to collaborate in showcasing the tremendous student-athletes, programs and member institutions of the WCHA."

UAH is set to drop the puck on the 2015-16 campaign next week as the Chargers welcome Hockey East affiliate Connecticut to the VBC on Oct. 9-10. The Chargers have a total of 18 home games in the upcoming season and ticket information can be found here.
