Magette Signs With Landstede Of Dutch Basketball League

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Former University of Alabama in Huntsville star Josh Magette inked a professional contract on Monday with Landstede Basketbal – a member of the Dutch Basketball League in Zwolle.

Magette is the third American signed by the squad that reached the semifinals of the league's playoffs as he joins Tanner Smith of Clemson and Michigan's Zack Novak who have recently reached deals with the team also.

The signing concludes an eventful summer for Magette that saw the Gulf South Conference's all-time leader in assists receive looks from the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz.

A four-year starter for the Blue and White, Magette was a two-time All-American, and he rewrote the record books in becoming not only the GSC's assist leader but also the league's career leader in steals. The Birmingham, Ala., native helped the Chargers reach new heights during his time in the Rocket City, guiding the team to back-to-back NCAA South Region championships and a pair of Elite Eight berths.

With Magette joining Landstede, the program now has three former players that are active professionals as Jason Smith and Joe Smith are also playing in pro leagues.
